KURA, sake specialty shop
01/ 03The beginning (challenge)

Why

Conveying the rich culture and tradition of sake at a glance.

  1. 01

The spirit of a sake specialist

As a shop dedicated to sharing the rich culture and tradition of sake, it needed a logo that conveyed that commitment.

  2. 02

    The warmth of handwork

The design needed to let visitors feel Japanese tradition and the skill of craftspeople.

  3. 03

    Embodying the shop's mission

We aimed to build the shop's mission, “to serve delicious sake,” into the logo.

How

Expressing gratitude for rice through brush lettering and a rice-plant symbol.

01 Brush lettering

The Japanese character for kura, rendered in bold brushstrokes.

We rendered the Japanese character for kura in bold brushstrokes, highlighting the texture and beauty of the lettering. Its hand-drawn warmth and craftsmanship express Japanese tradition and culture.

02 Rice plant

Gratitude for rice, the raw ingredient, in a rice-plant symbol.

The logo includes a rice-plant symbol to express gratitude for rice, the raw ingredient of sake. The rice plant symbolizes abundance and prosperity, and it carries the shop's unwavering commitment to its mission.
