Building materials meant for substrates, used as finishes.
Materials normally used as a base layer became the finished surfaces of the space. They sit well with the bare concrete, and helped reduce construction costs and shorten the schedule.

A space where children's artwork takes center stage.

On the second floor of a building right by Hatanodai Station, the classroom had to be created from a completely bare concrete shell.
The space needed places to display the children's artwork and storage for a wide range of tools and materials.
Alongside the integrated design, planning, and construction work, the brief called for keeping construction costs and time to a minimum.
The concept was “a space that sparks creativity.” Rather than giving the space an artistic signature of its own, we focused entirely on letting the children's work stand out.
Materials normally used as a base layer became the finished surfaces of the space. They sit well with the bare concrete, and helped reduce construction costs and shorten the schedule.

It provides display and storage, but the real stars are always the children's creations. The space serves as a backdrop that inspires making.
