A place where people with worries can walk in at ease.
As of 2020, Senrigan had around 60 fortune-telling studios across Japan. We developed the brand for its 59th location and its first in Saitama Prefecture.
The eight private booths for in-person readings needed to let clients relax and receive readings without feeling self-conscious.
Clients arriving with worries needed an atmosphere that let them step inside with peace of mind.
The design followed Senrigan's mission to create a society where people do not have to face difficult, private worries alone and can turn to fortune-telling for guidance.
So that clients with worries can enter at ease, we placed indirect lighting inspired by moonlight directly facing the corridor. Fixtures casting light up and down at the front of each booth gently illuminate the passage.
Each booth is marked with a letter of the alphabet. The acrylic plates are etched so that the letters themselves light up.
Reception is unstaffed: clients choose their preferred fortune teller and type of reading on a tablet. We also directed the photo shoots of the fortune tellers.
